Based on the award-winning Broadway musical and the smash hit motion picture, this staged concert version of Legally Blonde The Musical JR. is a fabulously fun journey of self-empowerment and expanding horizons. The show's instantly recognizable songs are filled with humor, wit, and sass — leaving cast members and audiences alike seeing pink!
Legally Blonde JR. follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes, snobbery and scandal in pursuit of her dreams. When Elle's boyfriend, Warner, dumps her and heads to Harvard, claiming she's not "serious" enough, Elle takes matters into her own hands, crafting a showy song-and-dance personal essay and charming her way into law school. Befriending classmate, Emmett, and spunky hairdresser, Paulette, along the way, Elle finds that books and looks aren't mutually exclusive. As Elle begins outsmarting her peers, she realizes that law may be her natural calling after all.

Director’s Note
Welcome to Legally Blonde JR! Based on the hit movie, this musical tells the tale of Elle Woods, a young woman who attends Harvard Law School to chase after her ex-fiance. Despite being underestimated at every turn by those who dismiss her as a non-serious sorority girl, she eventually proves everyone wrong for doubting her by overcoming any obstacle thrown her way. Just because she’s fashionable and fun, does not make her weak or unintelligent.
It probably doesn’t need to be said much anymore, but this project has taken different turns this year, much like everything else. Normally this would have been the show we’d have performed at the Junior Theatre Festival in Atlanta this past January. When they understandably cancelled the in-person event, we wanted to soldier on and still find a way to perform and honor our amazing students’ talents. Much like Elle Woods, we wanted to rise to our challenges and think outside the box. Fortunately, Riverside Theatre’s partnership with the Vero Beach Outlets gave us a unique way to safely present the show in an environment surprisingly well suited for Elle Woods and her interests – a mall! We are so grateful to the Vero Beach Outlets for giving us this opportunity to perform the full show.
We are thrilled to still be providing opportunities for our cast to perform despite the many challenges facing all of us. It’s nice to share such an uplifting show with you all, and we thank you all for supporting us and our amazing students in Legally Blonde JR!
