David l. Roscoe is currently the Chair of The Hastings Center Advisory Council and Board Chair Emeritus, and in those capacities has represented The Hastings Center, an independent non-profit bioethics research institute, as an active participant in the global AI community since 2017. Drawing on insights gained from this experience, over the past eight years he has spoken frequently to many private clubs and associations with the aim of making AI intelligible to general audiences and highlighting the many social, economic, geopolitical and ethical issues created by this transformative technology.
Mr. Roscoe retired as a Managing Director after a 34-year career at J.P. Morgan, where he held several global leadership positions including securities services, information technology, strategic consulting, and corporate risk management, as well as board seats on numerous US and international industry organizations. He subsequently served as co-CEO of Bridge Information Systems and then as a senior advisor at RiskMetrics Group. He is currently a director on the boards of the Cboe securities, option, and futures exchanges in Chicago and Modern Bank in New York.
Mr. Roscoe was raised in Oregon, graduated from Yale University in 1965 with an Honors Degree in Economics and received an MBA with Honors from the University of Oregon in 1967. He served on active-duty as a US Naval Reserve officer from 1968-1972. He and his wife Linda were married in 1967, have two children, seven grandchildren and their fourth Westie. They currently reside in Spring Island SC, where he enjoys golf and pickleball.
