Explore the big blue world with this lively new stage musical based on the beloved Pixar film!
Disney’s Finding Nemo JR. is a 60-minute musical adaptation of the beloved 2003 Pixar movie Finding Nemo, with new music by award-winning songwriting team Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez. Marlin, an anxious and over-protective clownfish, lives in the Great Barrier Reef with his kid Nemo, who longs to explore the world beyond their anemone home. But when Nemo is captured and taken to Sydney, Marlin faces his fears and sets off on an epic adventure across the ocean. With the help of lovable characters such as optimistic Dory, laid-back sea turtle Crush, and the supportive Tank Gang, Marlin and Nemo both overcome challenges on their journey to find each other and themselves.
Featuring memorable songs such as “Just Keep Swimming,” “Fish Are Friends Not Food,” and “Go With the Flow,” Finding Nemo JR. brings a vibrant underwater world to life on stage in a story full of family, friendship, and adventure.
Disney's Finding Nemo JR. production is included in your Winterfest admission.
Education Director's Message
Hello and welcome to Winterfest and the Treasure Coast premiere of Finding Nemo JR.!
This is a show I have been waiting for years to be released, and I am so glad it is finally here to serve as the centerpiece of our newly revamped Winterfest! For many years, our Festival of Trees was a major fundraiser for our education program. When we had to put a pause to the event due to the pandemic, it gave us time to really reflect on it and how we can make it even better. As we re-branded the event as Winterfest, we wanted to shift the focus of the festival to center its focus on our students and really show off exactly what the money raised through this festival supports – the kids! So with that in mind, we are thrilled to offer the amazing Finding Nemo JR!
Based on the classic Disney-Pixar film, it is a story about family persevering through struggles and learning how to work together. When the clownfish Nemo is taken from his reef by a dentist, his anxiety-ridden father Marlin must swim to his rescue with the help of the perpetually forgetful Dory. Along the way, they encounter an array of sea creatures as Marlin learns to have more trust in his child and Nemo learns just how resilient his father can be. As their family bond strengthens, they also learn the power of “found families” in Dory, the Fish Tank Gang who helps Nemo, and the important lesson of how we are stronger when “we swim together”.
An appropriate lesson for the times we live in and the holiday season itself, this show has been a joy to work on with these incredibly talented students. Some of them are joining us for the first time, while others have been with us for many many years! The joy these kids have as they share their immense talents makes every rehearsal a blast. We are so grateful to all of you for supporting our education programs at Riverside Theatre and are so excited to share our “Big Blue World” with you!
