DESCRIPTION: The Theatre Archivist is a position responsible for researching, compiling, organizing, digitizing, and cataloguing information pertinent to alumni, past productions, building information, and institutional knowledge from over 50 years of Riverside Theatre’s history. This is a full time, salaried position with benefits including 403(b), vacation pay, health insurance, etc.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Experience cataloguing and preserving documents, photos, video, newspaper articles, playbills, programs, etc.
Experience with research
Communication skills, both written and verbal
Computer Skills and Digital Literacy
Familiarity with current technologies for preservation
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION AND PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Create a database of current information on alumni from the education program dating back to the start of the programs
Contact said alumni to create a network of past students
Create a database of current information on past actors, directors, and designers from Riverside Theatre’s professional productions
Create a network of past artists
Compile, acquire, and preserve existing materials of historical significance to the theatre
Create a library of scripts, playbills, programs, photographs, scenic designs, costume designs, audio and video recordings, posters, and other memorabilia
Create detailed records and descriptions of archival materials
Implement appropriate storage solutions and preservation techniques
Digitize past materials into a readily accessible format on campus
Provide research assistance and reference services to theatre staff, board, visiting artists, and the public
Curate exhibitions showcasing archival materials to promote Riverside Theatre's history, heritage, and cultural significance
Conduct and document/record interviews with current and past Riverside staff, students, board members, artists, and community partners to tell the broad 50-plus year history of Riverside Theatre
Create partnerships with local institutions, libraries, and community organizations in the interest of filling out the historical footprint of Riverside Theatre in Indian River County

Preserve and promote the history of Riverside Theatre
Develop a catalogue system for archival materials
Create an accessible library, both physically and digitally, of Riverside Theatre history
Collaborate with Riverside Theatre staff in compiling and preserving historical data
Represent Riverside Theatre in the community in a professional, respectful manner
